On a Flight Playlist

Why does it seem like we all have a universal experience while flying? I’ve heard others describe it as main character energy or nostalgic energy, I’d call it existential energy. No matter what you label it, we’re all feeling so deeply while flying on a huge machine in the sky. Maybe it’s the pure fact that what we’re doing seems absolutely insane. How is this thing flying? I know, I know, there’s science behind it, but it still makes barely any sense that we’re all just flying around in the sky in a big metal tin can.

Since we’re all in our feels and, if you’re traveling alone, have the space, it seems like the perfect time to dive inward. Name a better use of your time up there, I’ll wait. I’ve never been partial to movies, let alone while on a plane. There is already enough stimulation, I don’t need to add a bright screen with a dull plot. What I need, and probably what you need, is a stellar playlist to escape into. To breathe in as the main character, feel your nostalgia bubble up, and ultimately think through every emotion that comes up during your flight. You are in luck, as I have crafted the perfect playlist for flying and I am willing to share it.

These songs won’t distract you from your feelings or thoughts. They will only enhance your experience and accompany you on your journey. Songs that would make you feel like how you feel on a plane, if that makes sense. You may know some artists such as Beethoven, Young Thug, Mac Miller, Tame Impala and Zach Bryan (because as I mentioned in a previous post, I am obsessed with his music and it must be added to all playlists now). Lesser known artists you will hear include Torri Weidinger, Flowervillian, Darpan and Cryst.

Play this on your next flight, or if you’re feeling eager, play it the next time you are in your feels. Maybe when it’s raining and you can stare longingly out a window. Maybe when you’re flying and it’s raining and you can stare longingly out the window. That would be ideal.
